Eleni Kouki is a graduate of the Department of History & Archaeology, at the University of Ioannina, Greece. She holds an MA in history from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, her thesis dealing with the construction of the monument of the Unknown Soldier in Athens during the interwar period. In 2010 she began her doctoral dissertation on Historical Culture during the greek dictatorship of 1967 – 1974. Her research interests range from public monuments and institutions which promote public history to historiography and contemporary Greek history. She has worked for many years as a journalist, mainly in the field of cultural and travel issues.
