23rd May 2012: Federal President Heinz Fischer visits the Doctoral College

Dr. Heinz Fischer, Austrian Federal President, visited on May 23rd 2012 his Alma mater, the University of Vienna. He paid an informal visit to the Institute of Contemporary History and the Doctoral College “European Historical Dictatorship and Transformation Research”. During an intense debate with the members of the Doctoral College, President Fischer got to know about the research topics of the doctoral fellows and was particularly interested in the diversity of the topics and the interdisciplinary approaches. As a former academician and Federal Minister of Science and Research, Mr Fischer proved to be familiar with the academic work field, which made the meeting atmosphere friendly and informal. Head of the President’s Cabinet Mag. Susanne Gaugl and President’s Advisor for Science, Art and Culture Mag. Meinhard Rauchensteiner took part in the meeting as well.
